A Provider’s Introduction to Substance Abuse Treatment for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Individuals

Course Description:

 The Center for Relationship and Sexual Health, in partnership with Joe Kort & Associates and Core Learning, Inc. is pleased to offer a new training developed by the Center of Excellence on Racial and Ethnic Minority Young Men Who Have Sex with Men and Other Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Populations (YMSM+LGBT CoE). This course is a full-day training, which is intended for any providers in contact with LGBT individuals. The full-day curriculum consists of seven training modules, beginning with an introduction to key terms followed by a module on cultural considerations, and concluding with treatment considerations for clinical work. The other four modules address the needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals. This comprehensive, up-to-date training offers the most current material on treating LGBTQ+ individuals struggling with alcohol, chemical, opioid or other substance use issues.
