Course Description:

This module covers the range of treatment and management options for asthma patients. It begins by looking at basic asthma therapy goals (such as reducing severity of symptoms and minimizing asthma’s effect on a patient’s activities) and how the “step-wise” approach can help patients find the right balance of treatments. Next, the module details the different kinds of medication—short-term, long-term and alternative treatments—and how each type can help different asthma patients’ needs. The module finishes by exploring some special circumstances—sports, pregnancy, and surgery—and how they present unique challenges to asthma management
