Implicit Bias: Beyond the Basics

Course Description:

Our brains are quick to judge! Implicit bias refers to the unconscious attitudes and judgements held by individuals. Social characteristics that can trigger implicit biases include: Age, Gender, Sexual Orientation, Race, Culture, Education Level and Health Status. This workshop will take a deeper dive into our own biases and how this impacts the diverse populations that we service. During this workshop, we will discuss the barriers and disparities to access and delivery of health care services, the impacts of stereotypes, racism and discrimination, the importance of practicing cultural competence and effective strategies to remedy implicit bias!
