Virtual Implicit Bias Training for Healthcare Professionals

Course Description:

This live and interactive virtual seminar is focused on helping healthcare professionals reduce barriers and disparities in access to, and delivery of, health care services. This seminar meets the new Implicit Bias Training requirements, set forth by LARA (Michigan's Licensing and Regulatory Affairs Bureau), as outlined in the Public Health Code – General Rules R 338.7004. This course's content covers the topics specifically named in the new rule, including, information on implicit bias, equitable access to healthcare, serving a diverse population, diversity and inclusion initiatives, and cultural sensitivity. We will also present and discuss tools for recognizing personal and organizational implicit biases, strategies to remedy the negative impacts of implicit bias, and the historical basis, as well as the present consequences of, implicit bias. Current research on implicit bias and access to healthcare services will be presented and discussed throughout this seminar. This course includes the required pre- and post- implicit assessments, as defined by LARA. A certificate of attendance will be provided to each attendee upon completion.
