Supporting Students with Mental Health Needs: What Educators Want to Know

  • Huron ISD-Professional Development Rm 1299 South Thomas Road Bad Axe, MI, 48413 United States (map)

Course Description:

Educators have been sounding the alarm for years regarding the increase in mental health concerns in school-aged children. The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted this worsening problem and to date, data suggests that 1 in 5 U.S. children are experiencing mental health conditions, with only approximately 20% receiving specialized behavioral health care (Weir, 2020). This training will highlight the most prevalent mental health conditions (e.g., depression, anxiety, trauma-related reactions, etc.) and will offer actionable strategies to utilize in the classroom to assist students in managing mental health distress.
