10% of Americans shoplift and most do so for emotional and psychological reasons and can become addicted. 75% of Americans steal or commit dishonest acts in the workplace and most also are driven by underlying emotional issues. Nearly 10% of Americans compulsively over-shop or overspend with disastrous consequences to their finances and relationships. Nearly 5% of Americans suffer from hoarding disorder (not recognized by the DSM-5).
