Course Description:
Practice Gap/Need: Mental health clinicians have little basis to explain the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on their patients as well as on themselves. Using emerging ideas about the nature of the pandemic and the remote communication between patient and clinician that it has necessitated, it is possible to begin to create a framework for explaining the limitations and benefits of remote work under these challenging conditions. Both practice gaps in knowledge about remote treatment, and about the psychological effects of this pandemic, will be addressed.
Following the presentation, attendees will be able to:
1. Describe the psychological effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on different kinds of patients. 2. Discuss especially helpful interventions in the treatment process under conditions of the pandemic. 3. Describe common patterns of how working under the condition of the pandemic affects clinicians.
