Course Description:
Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital is pleased to offer Casey Dietz’s presentation “Justifying the K0005 Manual Wheelchair; What’s The Big Deal? on demand virtually through the Mary Free Bed Education Academy.
Objectives:
By the conclusion of the lecture participants will:
1. Compare various manual wheelchair options with Medicare guidelines
2. Define K0001-K0005
3. Describe qualifications needed for more than a standard wheelchair
4. Discuss considerations for power versus manual wheelchair
Applicable to Social Work Practice:
An ultra-light weight wheelchair decreases the strain on shoulders, is easier to maneuver, and decreases the stress on caregivers loading the chair. By changing the center of gravity, the axle is moved back making the wheelchair more stable following an amputation. Throughout this presentation, healthcare providers will obtain a greater level of awareness of a K0005 manual wheelchair.
