Psychological Predictors of Physical Function in Individuals with Chronic Pain

Course Description:

Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital Interprofessional Grand Rounds is a one-hour presentation. On Monday, October 5, Elizabeth, Aguila, MD, PGY-4, will present “Psychological Predictors of Physical Function in Individuals with Chronic Pain”

 

 

Objectives:

By the conclusion of the lecture participants will:

1.     Describe relevant psychological factors that are related to physical function

2. Explain physical outcome measures that are sensitive to change in patients with chronic pain

3. Summarize results of the original research of psychological predictors of physical function in individuals with chronic pain

4. Identify relevant multidisciplinary treatment strategies in therapy for individuals with chronic pain

 

 

Applicable to Social Work Practice:

This presentation is aimed at addressing the importance of holistic, psychologically informed patient care in order to improve physical function. Appropriate referrals, importance of multidisciplinary treatment, and overlap between many specialties involved in treating individuals with chronic pain will be highlighted.
