Course Description:

Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) older adults have unique physical and mental health needs and a history of trauma related to LGBT identity, which makes it more difficult for older adults to trust health and human service providers. These experiences have often been ignored by those focusing on gerontology, as well as those involved with LGBT studies. Together we will explore the challenges and needs of this population, and learn interpersonal skills necessary to create safe and affirming relationships with LGBT older adults.
