Course Description:

Participants will increase their awareness of the market district and efforts for expansion of the buy local food processing/distribution efforts, as well as the master plan for bike paths and trails to connect the waterfront with midtown and Eastern Market. The tour will introduce participants to, and help expand their knowledge of, vendors, their products, and unique foods. Participants will explore the "immigrant experience" of some vendors and shop keepers and how that impacts Detroit and the region. The tour will increase participants' sensitivity to cultural and ethnic diversity and help to expand knowledge of community gardens and products to increase health.
