Direct Primary Care for Addiction Treatment

  • Henry Ford Hospital Maplegrove Center 6773 West Maple Road West Bloomfield Township, MI, 48323 United States (map)

Course Description:

Direct Primary Care is a newer model of healthcare where individuals and families deal directly with their doctor. No insurances, no obstacles, no middlemen. With Direct Primary Care, and my clinic- Beyond Primary Care, we eliminate the traditional insurance middlemen through a membership model of care that is affordable and gets people seen in a timely manner. This creates the time and space for people who are the most economically vulnerable such as the uninsured or underinsured. For others who want a more positive doctor-patient relationship, doctors can connect and engage with patients in a way that allows for a healing relationship and human connection. This doctor-patient interaction is critical in addiction medicine because it makes a difference in health outcomes. Not only can the doctors engage patients in medication assisted therapy (MAT), but also spend the time needed for behavioral and mental health to make lasting changes and have conversations about the need for engagement within the recovery community.
