Course Description:
This course addresses ways to provide support for families struggling with substance use issues and how to advocate for them and services in order to facilitate recovery. Attendees will learn how to advocate within the system for families struggling with substance use disorders. This includes being able to advocate for access to services and engagement in appropriate levels of care.
Attendees will be able to distinguish the differences between various levels of care and what to advocate for. They will learn about recovery and what it means for families in order to provide advocacy and ensure family safety. Finally, attendees will have an opportunity to discuss barriers to advocating for families and services and ways to overcome them.
