Self-Injury: Hurting or Comforting Oneself?

Course Description:

This is a 3 hour CEU presentation which includes power point, lecture, discussion and film clips focused on the various aspects of self-injury.  This course provides information focused on clinical issues, including the types of self-injury, both physical and behavioral. It includes answers to questions regarding precursors, dynamics and current thought regarding inpatient and other types of treatment for those patients who self-injure.  The most recent research in those areas will be presented and discussed and participants will be encouraged to present case material and experiences they are having with their parents who are involved with self-injury and treatments they have provided. In addition, resources and information for further study will be provided.
