Strategies for Engaging Resistant Clients in Therapy

  • StoryPoint Saline 6230 S. State Road Saline, MI 48176 United States (map)

Course Description:

While people who are suffering emotionally are eager for help, they inevitably bring strong resistances to the consulting room, which they express in various ways, including missing sessions, holding back important thoughts, and stopping therapy prematurely. This course will offer a frame for understanding why our clients are resistant to engaging more fully in therapy. It will then offer strategies for addressing resistances, which will include detailed clinical examples. Participants are encouraged to bring vignettes from their own practices.
