Course Description:
By the conclusion of the lecture participants will:
1. Explain the definition and various manifestations of nonphysical abuse
2. Describe the causes of nonphysical abuse
3. Discuss environmental factors that create and maintain nonphysical abuse
4. Identify effective methods for amelioratine nonphysical abuse in the workplace
Applicable to Social Work Practice:
Nonphysical abuse can have deleterious effects on staff in the workplace and can lead to burnout, compassion fatigue, absenteeism, poor health, and attrition. These factors can have a negative effect on patient/client care and warrant making it imperative that staff be trained in this substantive area.
