The course teaches evidence-based practices to help mental healthcare and criminal justice professionals create relationships and therapeutic alliances with people who have a serious mental illness (and anosognosia) that lead to treatment and recovery. “Anosognosia” is a neurological symptom that leaves a person unable to understand that s/he is ill, resulting in treatment refusal, noncompliance, isolation and conflict with professionals and loved ones.
