Course Description:
This workshop will give a brief overview of the importance of working with LGALs and parent attorneys both inside and outside of the courtroom in an effort to achieve better permanency results for families and children. Participants will be encouraged to think critically about collaborating with both LGALs and parent attorneys, how to engage these attorneys outside of the court process, and ultimately get the attorneys involved in permanency planning prior to walking into court. Participants will learn more about the lawyers’ roles, the lawyers’ obligations to their clients, and how to interact with lawyers to gain confidence in their advocacy skills at court despite the adversarial environment.
