Course Description:
Description: This session is designed to help learners understand the definition of dementia, and some characteristics of the most common forms of dementia. Attendees will also discover the many brain changes associated with dementia, and how those changes affect function and behavior. Techniques and methods for improving caregiving situations will also be discussed. By recognizing and using this information, learners can have more positive interactions with those living with dementia. This session will be interactive and will provide learners with valuable insights into their role in dementia care.
Methods: The instructor will use discussion, paired interaction, group discussion, self-directed quiz completion, case discussion, PowerPoint presentation, role play and lecture to provide learners with opportunities to gain knowledge and skills related to their personality traits and preferences.
