Course Description:
In this session, participants will learn some of the language they can use to make understanding a client's level of suicidality easier and have the discussion be more comfortable for both the client and the practitioner. Much like learning any foreign language, the more we use it, the better we are able to discuss and assess suicide lethality with a client to more accurately determine the need for hospitalization or other increased levels of safety. If we understand how personal experiences and biases can interfere our ability to neutrally assess lethality in a suicidal client we may be better able to help.
