Course Description:

This course is designed to educate professional service providers who provide care to people with a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) or other dementia and/or their family members and care partners. The material will increase their awareness and understanding of memory loss, dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. It is designed to provide awareness and hands-on information on making mealtimes enjoyable for people living with dementia. Objectives include identifying challenges faced by persons with dementia while trying to get enough to eat and drink, appreciating individuals’ preferences and mealtime history, identifying what should be observed at mealtime and the importance of those observations, and identifying approaches that may be used in challenging mealtime situations.
