Course Description:

Opioid use and dependence is continuing to challenge social work and nursing professionals nationwide. In this workshop, you will be introduced to assessment and monitoring of the opioid dependent patient. Discussion will include the importance of assessment in this patient population, monitoring patients who are prescribed opioids to treat chronic pain, and your professional role in the care of the opioid-dependent patient. Monitoring information will include Michigan Automated Prescription System Reports, urine drug screening, and opioid agreements.
