Course Description:
Family matters - genetic or chosen. It provides a sense of belonging that we all seek and is particularly pivotal for developing youth. Youth who identify as LGBTQ+ face a number of challenges and are at higher risk for a number of negative outcomes. However, one of the strongest protective factors is family support. Whether working with family of origin, in out-of-home-care, or within the community, this presentation will provide skills and tips to know how and when to provide interventions to create more supportive environments for LGBTQ+ youth. This presentation will also include a youth voice component where you can ask questions to a panel of LGBTQ+ youth.
