Course Description:
This course provides participants with an introduction to political social work, which is social work practice, theory, and
research that focuses on the use of policy and politics to create social change. Participants will discuss case studies that illustrate how politics impact the lives of those served on both a micro and macro level as well as explore the ways in which social workers from the case studies must engage with policy and political systems to create change. Participants will also gain the tools to implement political social work skills into their practice as well as techniques to effectively advocate to policymakers.
