Course Description:
This interactive and educational workshop will explore the importance of ethical conduct and professional boundaries in social work practice. Social workers often face challenging dynamics in therapeutic relationships, including emotional involvement, transference, countertransference, dual relationships, and confidentiality dilemmas. This training will provide attendees with tools to navigate these challenges effectively through ethical decision-making models, real-life case studies, and guided self-reflection. Attendees will examine key NASW Code of Ethics standards, explore the implications of over- and under-involvement, and learn strategies to maintain balance, prevent burnout, and safeguard client well-being. A special focus will be placed on culturally responsive practice, ethical gray areas, and protecting both provider and client from harm. This training supports social workers in strengthening professional judgment and promoting client-centered, ethical care.
