Ethics: How do we ensure equitable treatment for Mental Health and SUD?

  • Live Webinar United States (map)

Course Description:

Professional ethics provide guidelines for safe and effective treatment delivery, yet we are often challenged in our day-to-day delivery of services. And for those of us who work with people with the co-occurring diagnosis of Substance-Use-Disorder and Mental Health, these challenges are ongoing. This workshop will provide an opportunity to explore our own personal and professional values within the context of the NASW Code of Ethics and MCBAP Counselor's Code of Ethical Standards. HIPAA provides legal protections safeguarding client confidentiality, yet clients seeking treatment for SUD are further protected under 42 CFR Part 2; understanding these protections (including recent changes) are crucial in providing good care. Participants are encouraged to bring their real-life examples of ethical dilemmas to enhance our learning in how to use ethical decision-making models.
