Traumatic Stress: Exploring the Impact of Abuse and Neglect in Adolescence

Course Description:

The case of James, a 13 year old young Caucasian boy involved in the child welfare system will be used to explore the impact of physical abuse, neglect, domestic violence, and complex trauma on care taking systems and schools while identifying the implications for clinical services and integrated social services.This session uses the National Child Traumatic Stress Network’s Core Curriculum in Child and Adolescent Trauma©. The Core Curriculum enhances practitioner knowledge in three domains, that include core conceptual and theoretical understanding, core components of trauma-focused interventions and core therapeutic skills.
