Course Description:

With the rapid increase in aging patients, co-morbid burden/case complexity, and prolonged survival of severe illness and catastrophic injury, healthcare professionals are having to play catch up in order to match their care provision with the needs of the rehab population. This lecture will summarize Hospice and palliative medicine(HPM). In addition, it will help healthcare professionals when providing primary palliative care to their patients as well as address when to consult palliative medicine, and which patients are eligible for hospice.
