Course Description:

This 3 hour training that will introduce the basics of Special Education. It will include a discussion regarding the continuum of students with disabilities in educational settings. This training will include information regarding (a) categories of Special Education eligibility, (b) what is MVA and supports offered through the McKenney-Vento Act, (c) navigating higher education supports AND navigating resources to support individuals with special needs (e.g. training opportunities - Michigan Rehabilitation Services, MCTI, etc), and (d) will speak to the transient nature in programming and services (bouncing from school to school / district-to- district) that may occur for at-risk students and supports available to support continuity.
