Pets Are People, Too! Understanding and Nurturing The Human-Animal Bond for Personal and Clinical Success

Course Description:

Whether you love animals or not and whether you have one or more pets or not, most people know how important our multi-legged, winged, or finned friends can be in our lives and/or in the lives of our loved ones.  As a long-time dog owner, the presenter knows first-hand how powerful our pets give and receive unconditional love--especially in these challenging times. We'll explore the origins of pet domestication; the differences between service animals, therapy animals, and emotional support animals and the legal aspects of these; a bit about animal hoarding; and how animals of all kinds can provide support in both "in-office" settings, at home, and beyond. Terrence Shulman has been a licensed social worker and addictions therapist since 1997 and has been an animal and pet lover for over 50 years.
