Understanding Substance Use Disorders & Facilitating Recovery

  • Eastern Michigan University Boone Hall G12A Ypsilanti, MI 48197 United States (map)

Course Description:

Social workers inevitably encounter substance use problems, whatever their area of practice. Traditional approaches to treating substance use disorders have tended to emphasize acute care models with time-limited doses of services delivered within treatment institutions. This course will focus on real-world models for implementing long term addiction recovery support. Some of these approaches emphasize treatment professionals, while others emphasize natural and community supports..
