Course Description:
This presentation will provide an overview of the sources of trauma in the lives of people with intellectual disabilities (ID), the biological and psychological effects of this trauma and the key ingredients for healing. It will also emphasize the programmatic factors critical to post traumatic recovery. Finally, elements of positive psychology critical to recovery will also be discussed. This session is applicable to clinicians, managers, direct support professionals, families and teachers.
