Responding to Human Trafficking

  • Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital POB Meijer Conf Center 305 Lafayette Avenue Southeast Grand Rapids, MI, 49503 United States (map)

Course Description:

Survivor records of human trafficking indicate that up to 88% sought healthcare while enslaved. Once in a healthcare setting, most victims show “red flags” that may identify them. These indicators are key factors in addressing the growing concern of human trafficking as a public health issue. It is important for healthcare providers to understand the neurobiological changes that occur within the brain because of trauma, and know how to utilize Trauma Informed Care.
