Course Description:

The webinar will define Evidence Based Practice (Referring to EBP), will briefly describe three widely used EBP models including solution focused, motivational interviewing and cognitive-behavioral therapies, raise some concerns about the prescriptive nature of elements of these models which I believe create a false dichotomy between science and art, Identify useful EBP concepts and interventions that can be integrated into a unique social work model, Share process recording examples of how elements of the models can be integrated into practice without having to adopt the model as a whole and finally, will address the importance of maintaining our professions historic social justice mission illustrating this with an example from a veteran’s psychiatric hospital.
