Course Description:
· Purpose- To provide protection to vulnerable adults age 18 years and older as mandated by Public Act 519 of 1982.
· Vulnerability-A vulnerable adult is one in a condition where they are unable to protect themselves due to medical complications, mental impairment, physical impairment or advanced age.
· Types of Investigation
o Exploitation (financial, of person
o Abuse (physical, emotional, sexual)
o Neglect (physical, self)
· APS Services
o Intervention
o Referrals to resources
o Referrals to law enforcement
o Referrals to other state agencies such as LARA, BCH
