Course Description:
This is a workshop for all school faculty involved with the helping profession- social workers, school psychologists, counselors, and special education and general education teachers who want to improve their response to the secondary traumatic stress (STS) that they encounter on the job as they work with students who have issues with anxiety, fear, sadness, depression, bullying, or the responses like cutting or other harmful tendencies as students try to cope. Dr. Caryn Wells, Associate Professor in the Department of Organizational Leadership at Oakland University will offer this full-day workshop for professionals at all levels that will include time for interaction, problem solving, reflection, mindful practice, mindful self-compassion, and goal setting.
