Course Description:

Course Description: This is a free two (2) day training for stakeholders including: Social Workers, Human Service Providers/Administrators, Political Officials, Health Care Providers, Spiritual Leaders, Community Members, Schools, Colleges, University Educators, Church Members, Care Givers, Family Members etc. It is designed to provide a space for Deaf, Hard of Hearing and Deaf Blind (DHHDB) individuals to discuss their firsthand experiences and build effective methods to improve social communication with other community members. Also, to bring about improved awareness of the (DHHDB) community and culture highlighting strengths, accomplishments, challenges, struggles as well as feelings of pride in the DHHDB community.

The presenters will discuss strategies to effectively communicate with DHHDB individuals while providing various kinds of services. The audience will be informed on employment opportunities and other options to enhance the quality of life for individuals in this culture. Community organizations will discuss services that they offer designed to meet the needs of DHHDB individuals.
