Rethinking Staff Engagement: What Supervisors Need to Know to Retain their Staff

Course Description:

This workshop will provide knowledge and skills for first-line responders to persons experiencing crisis. The focus will be primarily on mental health crisis, but these skills would be applicable to assisting anyone experiencing crisis symptoms (i.e., survivors of a car crash). First responders may be police officers, medical professionals, school employees, social workers, etc. Topics will include crisis stages and signs of crisis, active-listening skills, grounding, intervention with persons experiencing mania, psychotic symptoms, and suicidal ideation. Additionally, we will cover crisis intervention models and community resources.
