Course Description:

In an ever growing technological world, there are new advancements in not only entertainment but also ways that we socialize, communicate, and learn. With these new advancements, there have been growing opportunities to engage in online school versus the traditional classroom style of learning. In this presentation, we will discuss various mental health concerns that often times present difficulties learning in the traditional school setting and will explore the pros and cons of considering alternative options. A focus will be made on ways each setting can promote or hinder healthy development in such cases and the potential impacts on long-term mental health. Strategies to assist parents and professionals in encouraging healthy development for their adolescents struggling with these concerns will be provided.
