Navigating High School Curriculum and Utilizing Supports for At-Risk Learners

Course Description:

This course encompasses the rationale for and nature of challenges experienced by at-risk high school learners, including students that receive 504 plans, IEPs, and/or those with social, emotional, and behavioral challenges. Strategies, such as self-monitoring tools, to support at-risk students will be discussed. In addition, tools to enhance the effectiveness and appropriateness in the programming will be discussed. Strategies and tools introduced and discussed will be geared to nurture and foster student engagement, motivation, and success. This course will also provide a lens to understand the myriad of challenges faced by high school students and pragmatic strategies and supports to enhance student success.
