Mindfulness for Mental Health Workers and Special Ed Teachers

Course Description:

This is a workshop for all school faculty involved with the helping profession- social workers, school psychologists, counselors, and special education and general education teachers who want to improve their response to students who have issues with anxiety, fear, sadness, depression, bullying, or the responses like cutting or other harmful tendencies as students try to cope. Dr. Caryn Wells, Associate Professor in the Department of Organizational Leadership at Oakland University will offer this full-day workshop for mental health professionals at all levels that will include time for interaction, problem solving, reflection, mindful practice, mindful self-compassion, and goal setting.

This workshop will include information about mindfulness and mindful self-compassion and how it can help students who are having difficulties concentrating in school because of emotional challenges, and the preoccupation and distraction with social media.
