Course Description:

Rehabilitation professionals are continually exploring ways to enhance their treatments to improve patient outcomes. The 2018 Stroke Symposium will explore current research related to the care of patients who have experienced stroke, and connecting the functional levels across the health care continuum. Rehabilitation specialists will gain knowledge in the importance of: how a home assessment can assist with a successful return home, managing incontinence, the role of recreational therapists in stroke rehabilitation, communication with the use of adaptive and assistive devices, and the management of tracheostomies and related issues. All members of the health care team will benefit from the concluding discussion on family communication strategies.
