Course Description:
By the conclusion of the lecture participants will:
- Define Implicit Bias
- Identify the brain’s unconscious and conscious minds
- Recognize how Implicit Bias can create conflict and other
- Describe de-biasing strategies
- Discuss resources to continue the conversation regarding cultural biases
Applicable to Social Work Practice:
In order to be reflective of the community that we serve, social workers need to be conscious of how our internal framework and thinking may affect the way we interact and treat each other and our patients. Studies show that building a meaningful connection between care provider and patient increases the likelihood that the patient will adhere to care plans, thus increasing the patient outcome
