Mediator Wisdom: Reflect, Imitation, and Experience

  • Oakland Mediation Center 550 Hulet Drive Suite 102 Bloomfield Hills, MI, 48302 United States (map)

Course Description:

Confucius said, “By three methods we may learn wisdom: First, by reflection, which is noblest; second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third by experience, which is the bitterest.” Both new and seasoned mediators will learn mediator wisdom with this highly reflective and experiential advanced mediator training. Through mediation role-plays participants will utilize facilitated reflection to capture learning moments, learn new skills and techniques from observing their peers, and gain hands on mediation experience as they take the lead in mediating mock disputes.  This training is appropriate for any mediator regardless of practice focus or mediator style.  This training is ideal for any mediator who has completed a 40-hour Mediator Training as approved by SCAO and wishes to enhance their mediation skill set or for those who need to fulfill the circuit court mediator requirement of 8 hours of advanced training every two years.
