Course Description:
In this session, you will learn guidelines in determining when to admit adults and children to a Crisis Residential Unit and Inpatient Hospitalization. You will be able to identify what medical criteria must be met for a patient to remain at a Crisis Residential Unit, or Inpatient Hospitalization. You will understand what appropriate discharge planning and coordination of care needs to be completed prior to an individual discharging safely from a Crisis Residential Unit or Inpatient Hospitalization. We will discuss the impact of substance use disorders on psychiatric hospital admissions, as well as continued stay in a community inpatient setting. Lastly, you will gain improved knowledge and understanding of the Michigan Medicaid Provider Manual related to Crisis Residential Unit and Inpatient Hospitalizations for persons served who are diagnosed with mental illness, dual diagnoses, and co-occurring disorders.
