This workshop provides information for clinicians on basic coping mechanisms to help clients in early recovery, such as HALT, Cue Reactivity triggers and how they affect the brain, how to manage recovery during social events, and information on how to prepare clients to be their own best advocates throughout their recovery. The presentation will weave in the ABC's of CBT, Stages of Change, and 12 Steps as aids to helping clients understand the need for an action plan to influence thoughts/beliefs/experiences. Long-term maintenance depends on living a balanced life, which includes physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. Key ingredients are healthy diet, adequate sleep, exercise, and meditation/prayer/relaxation/social time. Each of these areas will be discussed at length and will include information on Mindfulness and Forgiveness as tools of recovery.
