New Practice Standards on Social Work and Technology: A Situation-Based Discussion on Best Practices?

  • Live Webinar United States (map)

Course Description:

With the rapid expansion and emerging uses of technology in social work practice, the National Association of Social Workers, Association of Social Work Boards, Council on Social Work Education, and Clinical Social Work Association recognized the need to update and expand the “Practice Standards on Social Work and Technology,” which were published in 2005. The new standards provide social workers with comprehensive guidance on how to use a wide range of technology – including teleconferencing, online social networking, remote (cloud) storage, email, social robots, and mobile apps, among others – in an ethical manner. This webinar will help social workers navigate the new standards through a situation-based discussion where a panel of experts will provide guidance on how to apply the new standards in a variety of practice situations (including clinical and macro applications). Participants will also have an opportunity to ask questions and invite discussion of additional practice situations.
