Hit It Out of the Park: Attend Spring Training

Course Description:

The Conference "Hitting It Out of the Park" has a focus on helping the staff of Assisted Living to get updated and relevant information on important topic areas. The first area is related to chronic conditions, especially dementia. Sessions such as the Dementia Journey, Confrontational versus Supportive Communication, Environmental Audits and Design for Dementia and Shifting the Culture of Dementia Care are included. Other sessions on Autism and Parkinson's provide pertinent information. Overcoming Compassion Fatigue provides an opportunity to support staff in their challenging jobs.

For the staff serving persons with disabilities, Community Inclusion and the Journey to Cooperstown look at ways to help residents and enjoy interacting with others. The second topic area looks at current situations that may occur, including dealing with an active shooter, defusing aggressive situations, understanding the opioid crisis and human trafficking.

For staff and managers, topics such as Best Practices in Hiring, Ethics, Confidentiality and Boundaries and Best Practices in Hiring are provided. Best Practices in Promoting Workplace Safety, Violence in the Workplace and dealing with cyberthreats offer pertinent information. Finally, managers can explore their approaches in Are You an Umpire or a Coach for better interactions with staff.
