Course Description:
It is not widely understood that psychic determinism is the major contributer to a patient's associations and that the associations can best be understood by understanding the context in which they arise. Using a detailed clinical example, Dr. Boesky demonstrates how an analyst privately makes trial interpretations and at times may feel confused if the way in which the patients’ asociations are related is not clear. Dr. Boesky says, “Context is …an essential bridge between primary process and secondary process thinking and also between manifest and latent content.”
