Use of Vulnerability and Resilience in Psychotherapy

  • St. John Macomb Hospital 11800 E. Twelve Mile Road Warren, MI, 48093 United States (map)

Course Description:

This program explores the research on vulnerability and resilience with children, adolescents, and adults.  Participants receive didactic information on these issues to help them better understand how vulnerability and resilience effect the backgrounds of their clients, general clinical presentation as a client in treatment, and how the past effects present and future.  The participant also is free to ask questions, add personal and professional input to the presentation, making it more relevant for the attendee's experience of being there.  Participants also receive very specific and detailed information about what clinicians are doing with research and clinical protocols for treatment with children, adolescents, and adults making use of vulnerabilities and client resilience. Thus, participants receive both the understanding about these two major clinical themes; and how to integrate treatment models into their personal caseloads and clinical skill set as mental health practitioners.
